Laziness is the Mother of Invention

by Kelly Turner on August 19th, 2008

More like her unemployed brother in law that sleeps on her couch, but you get the idea.

Summer is here unless you live with me in Seattle, which means its getting hotter out, and now more than ever its important to stay hydrated, especially when exercising.  Water flushes out toxins from the body, which you produce by burning calories.  Also, if you do not have enough water in your system, your blood volume decreases which cuts bloof flow from your exercising muscles causeing you to fatigue faster.

If you are thirsty, you are already dehydrated. To avoid this, you should sip as often as possible.

The people at www.athletesoasis.com have come up with a way to get your strength training  and your H20 in all at once.

I present to you: water bottle dumbbells.

I’m not gunna lie- it’s the most ridiculous website I have ever seen in my entire life, BUT I do think its a good idea. They aren;t going to weigh very much, but they’ll add a little extra resistance to your workout while keeping you cool.

Take these babies out for a walk, and get some killer biceps and your daily hydration needs at the same time.

Bicep curl, sip, repeat.

Just make sure you fill them water ;)

I dunno. I saw these things on fitsugar and think it could have been done so much better. besides, don’t they say not to strap weights of any kind around your wrists/hands? Bad for the joint?

I have been using the Athletes’ Oasis water bottles and have increased my milage running quicker than I ever thought possible.

PS. Staping weights to your hand does not hurt your workout at all, as long as you work with your natural body rhythm and do not make unnatural movements.

If you know anything about the study with people walking and running with weights you understand the people conducting the test wanted the outcome the test produced. The test was flawed.
